Time Cannot Be Replaced

“I got so used to him being here, I guess I took our time together for granted.”

“We were always together, that’s just the way it was. It became routine.”

These are two of the many statements made by families in hospice care when their loved one was near death: not that they did not have the time together, but that they allowed the time to become routine. They had time together, but now they question the quality of that time because for them, time has run out.

The time allotted to each of us is precious and once it passes by, it returns no more. How we spend that time will make all the difference someday.

We cannot relive yesterdays; we can only learn from them. Today, we need to make the most of our time together and not take it for granted. Then, when each tomorrow comes, each yesterday will have been better spent.

Life is a learning process. Don’t be too hard on yourself. Improve as you go.
