A husband goes off to work, a son or daughter goes off to school, a wife and mother sees them off…”See you tonight!” A common expression we have all used…a hope framed with words of anticipation.
There are times when the anticipation within these words remains…echoing in a phone call or a knock on the door… telling someone that “tonight” as they had hoped…will never be.
“Teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.” Psalm 90:12
In other words: understanding that our days are few and unpredictable, to live them more carefully as we cherish each moment we have with those we care about. Then, if “tonight” doesn’t happen, though we grieve, we will not regret.
