The Serenity Prayer

~ ~ ~

God, grant me the serenity

to accept the things I cannot change,

courage to change the things I can,

and the wisdom to know the difference.

When someone we love is no longer here, we are left with memories of days gone by and the times we spent with them. Most memories are good to recall, but what about the ones that are painful and stem from the times when mistakes were made or words were said that, now, take the form of regret.

The prayer above is an excellent guideline to living and esp. living with memories that cannot be changed. The words talk about the things you can do something about and the things you can’t. That makes all the difference.

  1. Strange how the less than great times of the past seem to evaporate away…leaving us with the better more beautiful times to reflect on instead. I rather like that.

  2. The Serenity Prayer is what I live by. Thanks for the reminder, Bonnie.
