Pay My Respects

This afternoon I will stop by the funeral home to pay my respects to a friend whose husband passed away suddenly. I will offer my heartfelt sadness to the widow and the family. There will be silent tears, soft hugs, quiet conversation and thoughts.

A few days later, I will stop by my friend’s home to pay my respects once more. There are no words to ease her pain, but she will know I care. When I leave, she will be holding the memory bear I chose to make her to help her through the short days and long nights. We will hug and say goodbye. My heart will smile knowing she has a bear made from her husband’s favorite shirt. She can hold him and talk to him once more.
