In all of my thoughts, I never expected to be involved in a ministry that deals with the grief of another by the use of a soft, cuddly, twenty-two inch bear.
The uniqueness of the bear is that it is made from the favorite clothing of a loved one who has passed away. The bear functions in a therapeutic way for those that grieve by providing something to hold and hug as they remember their loved one.
As the teddy bears of our childhood brought a sense of comfort to us, memory bears provide the same sense of comfort to those who have lost a loved one. The tendency to hug resides within all of us. When the object of our affection is no longer here to hug, the memory bear is and makes a difference for those that grieve.
In this life, you never know what’s around the next corner; for me it was memory bears. Inspired by my son’s death at 45, Memory Bears by Bonnie is my ministry.
