Our lives are marked by calendars and dates. We celebrate holidays throughout the year. We keep up with birthdays, anniversaries, special occasions and other important dates.
Most every date or occasion we track on a calendar brings joy and celebration to our lives. Someone gets married, a new baby, graduation and the list goes on. We look forward to celebrating these occasions in our lives.
There are other anniversaries we keep in mind, but there is no joy to be found. We remember a loved one who has passed. We remember the day they died, the day of the funeral or the day we spread their ashes.
As time passes, we remember their life shared with us and we smile, we laugh, we find a sense of peace in knowing we have these memories.
And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain… (Revelation 21:4)
